Last week in my post Love & Communication, I said my hubby & I have been together for 9 years, so here is a list of 9+1=10 reasons I love my husband:
- He puts his faith in God
- He is a good provider
- He is a hard worker
- He’s a wonderful Daddy
- He doesn’t complain too much
- He lets me have “me” time
- He likes to cuddle, even though I’m not a cuddly type of person
- He loves to tell me about his dreams & visions
- He loves family days
- He kisses me goodnight!
We have been on a budget as I’ve mentioned on other posts and we usually try not to buy each other gifts for Valentine’s Day. One day we can splurge and go to a fancy restaurant and he can buy me diamonds, lol, but right now we are sticking with handmade, handwritten, or something similar for this special day of the year.
Last week I stumbled upon a cute, very cheap idea from Lori at The Towells Blog about a Valentine’s project/gift that lasts the whole year. I decided to make one and here’s what I came up with and how to make them:
Cover a can or something similar with paper & decorate. Label the cans His and Hers. They are know as the Love Buckets. Print out a sheet of paper numbered 1-52. When you give your husband his love bucket, give him the directions. After you write down the 52 things, cut and fold them.
Directions (you give them to your spouse)
-Write 52 things you want me to do with you or for you. (this will last until next vday)
-Put those sheets of paper in your canister, and then swap canisters.
-On Sundays, we will each pull a strip of paper out of each other’s canister, and we’ll have to do whatever the paper says
-We will have the whole week to complete the task.
-Keep the paper hidden but easily accessable to remind you to do the task.
-After you complete the task, tape it to the mirror in our bathroom as a reminder of our commitment to one another.
An example of some of the things I wrote are: Give me a 5 minute massage, go for a walk, make up a funny store about ……., make a meal together without talking, surprise me for a date I have no idea about, hold hands for 30 minutes, etc. Maybe you can do this next year, for your anniversary, or just because.
Here are the cutest kids opening up a Valentine’s Day card from their Great Nana & Great Papa. They were so excited because this is the first letter in the mail that they have opened.
We also went to a Valentine’s party with the moms group I organize and all the kids got to make their own mailbox for the valentine’s exchange. Here are theirs, I helped them out as you can see. I think we will make a list similar to the gift I made for my hubby & I and pull one out for both of them each week also. They’ll have things on the paper like: read me my favorite book, go pick 1 item out at the dollar store, paint a picture with me, etc.
