As much as your Dad or husband might want another tie for Father’s Day ( ha, ha)…Perhaps he may get more use out of this homemade gift!
My husband has very sensitive skin and has tried several aftershaves and lotions hoping to find one that does not irritate his skin. Of course, the best ones are all so expensive!
So why not make your own? It is super easy to personalize to your skin type and scent preference.
What you need:
1/2 Cup Coconut Oil
1/4 Cup Witch Hazel (adjust these first two ingredients to be the consistency that you prefer)
2 tsp Liquid Lanolin
2 Tbsp Avocado Oil
2 capsules or 2 tsp Vitamin E Oil
What to do:
1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees, then turn off
4. Lastly, add the Vitamin E and Essential Oil. I used Rosemary, but some other favorites for men are Lemongrass, Tea Tree Oil and Lavender. You could also add Peppermint Oil for a cool and refreshing aftershave.
5. When all ingredients are combined, pour into gift-able containers for Father’s Day!
I made a double batch which yielded about 10 ounces. There are so many ways to customize this recipe! Try different oils such as, Almond Oil, Olive Oil or Jojoba Oil.
Use Vegetable glycerin instead of Liquid Lanolin. Try alcohol free Witch Hazel for very sensitive skin. Combine different Essential Oils to make a very custom scent. This will show him how much you (and the kiddos) love him!
This would make a great gift for a Father’s Day gift(or any ocassion for a male). Love this idea/concept and the fact it is all natural
Wow – that is a cool idea! Great gift for any occasion!
Oh how cool! I LOVE easy homemade items and this looks so simple!
This is really cool. My husband should see this. Great!
What a great idea! I think my husband would really like this, especially if I make it.
I am not seeing my Pete wearing aftershave, whether I make it or not. He is an attorney and a bit rough around the edges, often says the wrong thing at the wrong time. But I might give a bottle to my dad.
That is awesome! I will try this recipe as well. I’m using essential oil blends for all sorts of things, and to do this here would be just up my alley.
For those who want to try this recipe: if you are making for one person only, halve the batch. That’s what I did.
This recipes contain no preservatives (vitamin E is not a preservative, but an antioxidant) and does contain water (witch hazel water with or without alcohol). It will last 2 weeks, maximum unless your witch hazel has no water at all.
