All About Reading Review

I have been using All About Reading level 1 with my daughter London for the past year and a half. She is now almost 7, and we’re so glad we finished a couple of weeks ago. Yay! It was an amazing accomplishment us both! When we first started in August of 2020, age wise, she was on the younger side, as she wasn’t halfway to 6 and honestly wasn’t quite ready. In addition, we discovered she needed glasses, so that played a role in the difficulty we were having with a reading in general. It became … [Read more...]

It's Christmastime and that means getting into the holly jolly spirit. And that means holiday decorations, gift giving, singing all the Christmas carols, watching all the movies and of course Santa Claus! Writing letters to Santa is a long time tradition for many boys and girls. I have come up with a few templates that range from fill in the blank to write your very own letter with options in-between. <<You can find the printable options below>> Letter to Santa … [Read more...]

Homeschool Student Planner {Free Printable}

I think part of my job as a mom and a homeschooling teacher is to help my kids learn to be accountable with their school work and responsibilities. I am not really one for the unschooling. In life there are things that must get done, even if you don't want to do it. But this is not a post about not agreeing with "unschooling".. I do like this post if you want to read more about it.  This post is about helping your student to independently be in-charge of their life, at least teaching them how … [Read more...]

School’s Out for Summer {and a screen-time checklist printable}

School’s out and that means lattes at the pool, quietly reading your book and the house stays perfectly clean right?? RIGHT! We all wish!  Since our routines are a bit different now, I find my kids thrive on having a checklist. This checklist has all kinds of things to do in order to get screen-time. If I didn’t have this type of checklist, we’d all be tempted to just be couch potatoes and have a REALLY lazy summer. And while those times are ok once-in-a-while, this helps so we don't get … [Read more...]

Year in Review Letter {Christmas Letter}

When it comes to Christmas traditions, one of my favorites is the annual Christmas letter. I know some people dread these, but I LOVE them!   I've done several different things, including a Madlib, top 10 things of the year, and more but my favorites these past few years are "Year in Review" letters.  Here are a couple from the past years: I keep our letters in a special Christmas book my mom got us before we had children. I love looking back each year and reading the … [Read more...]

Trusting God, Checking the Mail and reminders of God’s goodness

 No one ever plans to get pregnant and then have a miscarriage. No one ever plans to try and have a baby only to walk a path of infertility or secondary infertility. And even if it was an unplanned pregnancy, (most people... I don’t want to say all because I know there are people who choose to end life, maybe because the feel it’s the only option) but for the God loving women they don’t plan to lose a baby. We were happy and content with our family size... then found out about an … [Read more...]

Homeschool Mom Tag

I thought it would be fun to do a Homeschool Mom Tag especially since everyone is planning and thinking about next year! I am answering the 10 questions below.    Homeschool Mom Tag Questions: Do you have a set budget for your homeschool? 1. Were you homeschooled? 2. Did you know always know you'd homeschool your children? 3. What are your 3 favorite books in your homeschool library? 4. Are you the only "teacher"? Does your spouse help, outsource help, tutors, etc. 5. Where is … [Read more...]

Stupid Mistake + Where Have I Been???

Have you ever made a stupid mistake? Or is that even the word I'm looking for?!? Not like picking your kids up late from their practice or putting on the wrong shoes or putting salt in your coffee instead of sugar. Maybe the word I am thinking is irresponsible, foolish, "mom" brainless, the other kazillion of words that could be the right word. I almost lost my blog a while back and it was my OWN fault. I know I haven't even been writing on here in a LONG time but these are still … [Read more...]

Embracing The Need for Rest Without the Guilt

Written by Lisa @ This Pilgrim Life, Contributing Writer My kids often ask why they have to go to sleep at all.  Why isn't an afternoon nap enough? Why do we have to sleep so much at night? And maybe most importantly to them, when are my parents going to bed and what am I going to be missing out on?  These are deep questions to young kids, and of course there's always the "because I told you so" approach to settle their queries. Honestly, there are plenty of … [Read more...]
