Sonlight Homeschool Curriculum

For the past 2 years I have loved the opportunity to work with Sonlight Curriculum as a brand ambassador.

This year we got a chance to use their preschool program: Fiction, Fairytales and Fun that’s specifically for 3-4 year olds. At the begining of the school year it was SO FUN opening up the box and then diving into these books this year. Little London has since turned 5 and is ready for kindergarten but we have LOVED our time looking at and reading though all these books!

This post is going to start off as to why I chose Sonlight Curriculum for my preschoolers and then it’s going to dive into tips and my overall review as well ask links to videos that discuss those topics into further detail. So why did I choose this program for my preschoolers?

Well… it’s no secret that we loved using Level D! My kids loved it and so did I, so when given the opportunity to use the same time of program with my littles I didn’t hesitate.

Other reasons I chose Sonlight for my preschoolers:

literature based approach
can go at your own pace
no prep-work
don’t have to print things out

That’s nice and short but there aren’t too many details needed to explain the why.

Now let’s get into my tips for homeschooling preschoolers:

Take it easy and have a no pressure mentality. Just have fun, learn and explore together. Get outside!
Read together… Sonlight is known for their amazing literature that you can read together over and over.
If you’re child likes hand-on DO IT! Sonlight overs some hand-on activities that my daughter actually loved. Some other ideas are cheap dollar tree “workbooks”, play dough, or magnetic letters, counting bears and more!
It’s all about repetition and guidance… Saying the ABC’s and 123’s over and over again, repeating them. Reading stories over and over again until they can “read” the story back to you, maybe not because they can read the actual word but have memorized the story. And then Guidance… gently correcting them to the right annunciation or terms.
Have FUN and praise them. When they have said the ABC’s correctly or sat next to you nicely while you read, praise them… let them know they’ve done a GREAT job!
