Where does this blog’s name come from?

My blog name Day2day joys comes from verse in James 1:2. “Finding Joy in it all” No matter what you are going through (even if it’s hard or unimaginable) I want to encourage you that it’s part of your story, the story that the Lord is writing through you. And sometimes it is hard finding the joy in it all but my prayer is that you and I,  dear friend, can find a glimpse of joy in the valleys and on mountain tops.

My journey hasn’t been easy, but I know a lot of you have been through so much more! We are so blessed! After about 2 years of infertility and loss, we will welcome our 3rd baby late February/early March next year! And we are about to buy our 1st house after renting for almost 10 years.

Today is the 11th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Reviews & Giveaways 2013!

On the 11th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

A natural inspirational book from me to you! I was blessed earlier this year to write a chapter for Trust Your Intuition: 25 “Natural Medicine Confessions” From Influential Women Who Choose Healing Remedies for Their Families.

Trust Your Intuition Giveaway

Today it’s just a giveaway, no review from me but a short quote from a fellow blogger:

“What I loved so much about Rachel’s chapter was that it wasn’t overwhelming. Her advice is doable, and you can probably find yourself somewhere in her journey towards natural health. Whether you routinely turn to Tylenol to “treat” a child’s fever, or you’re already regularly seeing a chiropractor, there’s something to help encourage you on toward natural health. I can definitely attest to the benefit of regular chiropractic care as I’ve seen it in our own family, and Rachel’s chapter really helps explain why seeing a chiropractor can be so crucial when seeking a healthy lifestyle.” from Kristen of Smithspirations

Features of Trust Your Intuition

  • Discover why they stopped depending on conventional medicine
  • Get their recipes for natural home remedies
  • Learn tips on avoiding drugs and the doctor’s office!
  • Feel more confident in “home doctoring”
  • Be inspired to try more home remedies that work!

Today is the 10th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Reviews & Giveaways 2013!

On the 10th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An organizational giveaway from Tiffany, Independent Consultant for Thirty-One Gifts.  There are so many unorganized things in life (for me anyway) so finding tots, containers, caddy’s and more to help make my life easier is ALWAYS a plus!

Thirty-One Gifts Review & Giveaway

Thirty-One Gifts has been helping women get organized since 2003, that’s 10 years! The name Thirty-One is referring to Proverbs 31, the biblical example of a Godly woman.

Thirty-One offers so many items your options are endless! I actually have a few of the products. I have the Organizational Shoulder Bag, the Large Utility Tote and now 2 of the Keep it Caddy’s (one of our patients had given me one that says Victory for our wellness practice last year)

Features of the Keep it Caddy

  • Approx. 8” H x 13” W x 6.5” D
  • 2 mesh pockets on the ends
  • 4 pen lots in the front
  • 1 larger pocket good for your phone, wallet, mail, etc.
  • Various uses for it

Thirty-One Gifts Review & Giveaway 1

Now for my review:

I was given the Keep it Caddy to review from Tiffany, Independent consultant of

Thirty-One Gifts. When I got the package in the mail I was so excited! She had included a nice card with a hand written note which I thought was very nice.

The Keep it Caddy was perfect because I had been working on several DIY Fleece Blankets for baby gifts since I know about 5 ladies who are pregnant or just had a baby. I stored all my fleece fabric and materials in the bag (see pictures below.)

Thirty-One Gifts Review & Giveaway 2

Tiffany, the gal who is “hosting” this great review & giveaway says that one of her personal favorite products is the large utility tote because it has so many different uses! She usea it to haul things in, take to the grocery store, her husband has one in his truck for his tools, laundry, etc.

Holiday

I would have to agree with her. I love my large utility tote. Over Thanksgiving weekend we went to the Wilderness at the Smokies an indoor water-park since we had celebrated Thanksgiving the Saturday before. Boy did it help us carry a lot of stuff into our room!

What I Liked:
  1. I love the usefulness of the caddy, there are so many uses. I could bring it to the library, in the car for a couple snacks or toys for the kiddos, pack my laptop and head to Starbucks, etc.
  2. Seems to be easily cleaned
  3. Seems to be well made for long lasting use
  4. You can get it personalized but it’s not necessary
What I didn’t Like:
  1. The only thing I would say is it would be great to have a latch that keeps things inside more secure or private.
You can Buy It!

Go to Tiffany’s page and see all she has to offer! The December special is for every $35 you spend, you get one of the “Holi-buys” for only $5, find our more here!

You can Win it!

Enter this giveaway! If you win, you will get the Keep it Caddy in Black Floral Brushstrokes and a $20 Gift Certificate. (The gift certificate must be redeemed through Tiffany)

Today is the 9th day of the 12 days of Christmas Review & Giveaway 2013!

Written by Nell @ Whole Parenting Family, Contributing Writer

*Note from Rachel: Since I am nearing 28 weeks pregnant, I have asked Nell to help me with today’s review but be confident I support and love Lilla Rose

On the 9th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

The most beautiful and useful hair accessories to date Giveaway from Kristen of Lilla Rose. Kristen is an expert and private consultant with Lilla Rose hair products and when she sent me my poppy pins and flexi-clip for review, she couldn’t have been more helpful or more knowledgeable about what my crazy locks need to be tamed and look (semi) presentable for the holidays.

give away My idea of dressing up my hair is a clip half up/half down. Or my hair down, with some sort of product that makes it look less . . . boring? So when Rachel asked me to do this review and I agreed,  Kristen contacted me and I was so delighted to be able to try something that might actually work. But who wants to just comb through the bins at Target for something that might work when you can talk to someone, and have it delivered to your house, and it will work.

The company offers personal shopping for hair products ranging from flexi hair clip to bobbies to you-pins, to hair sticks, to O-rings, to hair bands. Kristen was kind enough to guide me through the products and see the range of actual offerings, and then styles within the offerings. The company focuses on unique, comfortable, and strong hair clips sold by real people to us, the real people in need of hair help!

Features of Flexi Hair Clip & Bobbies:

  1. The flexi hair clip is an adjustable clasp for your hair that allows you to adjust the clip to your own hair needs and volume. A few styles the company suggests you can do with it are the pony tail, half-twist, up & down, drop bun, tails-up, french twist, half-up, and extra long. There is flex to the portion of the clip that wraps around the upperside of your hair. The underside is adjustable both in how far it slides, and in which groove it clasps into when it connects with the top.
  2. The bobbies are a firm long and just the right kind of thickness kind of bobby pin. The decorations range from festive to quiet, and would go well for a night out, a yoga class, or your wedding. I felt like I could boogie down all night with these bad boys in, and have nothing out of place, except maybe my breath.

Now for my review:

I was given a set of bobbies & flexi-hair clip by Kristen, in beautiful packaging and with helpful instructions.

instructions

SONY DSC

What I Liked:
  1. I liked that the bobby pins are incredibly sturdy–like made of unbreakables! But still had an appropriate amount of bend. They would keep anyone’s hair in place, firmly. These bobbies are much better than any others I’ve had. AND they don’t snag your loose hairs away. They are like Mary Poppins–firm but nice.
  2. I loved that the flexi hair clip is adjustable. I could do my hair in a number of ways with it, and it still looked nice! Trust me when I say this is saying a lot for my hair which is both fine and lots of it–a tricky combo. I opted for the half up/half down here because, let’s face it, if I even did this with my hair I would feel ready for the ball! Needless to say my husband was surprised my hair wasn’t pulled back in a sloppy bun when he came home. He gives it a double thumbs up!
What I didn’t like:
  1. I loved it all!

Today is the 8th day of the 12 days of Christmas Review & Giveaway 2013!

Written by Kari @ Living Strong Health & Wellness, Contributing Writer

*Note from Rachel: Since I am 27 weeks pregnant, I have asked Kari to help me with today’s review but be confident I support and love T-Tapp.

On the 8th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An awesome wellness workout package giveaway from Mary over at The Encouraging Home. It’s called T-Tapp and it’s a low-impact workout that benefits your whole body stimulating the lymphatic system, improving bone density and helping restore and rehabilitate those parts of the body many have injured and hurt, such as knees, hips, shoulders and the lower back.

TTappgiftguide

Mary at The Encouraging Home is a certified T-Tapp trainer and her desire is to share this amazing information that has helped her tremendously in her own life after suffering health issues of her own.

Fitness and workout programs are everywhere, but finding programs that actually offer more than larger muscles are few and far between. In my opinion, T-Tapp results offer an all-inclusive product (in just 15 minutes) that supports the whole body, something I am passionate about as well.

T-Tapp is NOT tap dancing. T-Tapp is a series of copyrighted, sequential movements designed to put the body in proper functional alignment. It delivers strength, flexibility, increased lymphatic function, hormonal balance and total body results. You can accomplish so much in 15 minutes!! It starts the body healing from the inside out and is ideal for anyone with health issues…many notice a change in how they feel and the problems from health issues slowly go away. Then, inches start melting.

Learn how you can easily get started with T-Tapp, here.

Features of T-Tapp Workout

  • low-impact movements, which means no weight lifting, jumping and moves that can be damaging to your body
  • the ability to jump start your lymphatic system which will impact your entire physical body: clearer skin, weight loss, more energy
  • movements that tone and sculpt your body without hurting or straining your muscles
  • explanation on how different body types will gain weight a certain way and how to address that in the workouts
  • a program that addresses the whole body, internally and externally
  • information on how dry brushing an also help stimulate the lymphatic system
  • a God-made/Man-made dietary guideline for optimal results

Now for my review:

I was given the T-Tapp Basic Workout and the “Yes You Can” seminar, both on DVD. I was instructed to watch the “Yes You Can” seminar before trying the workout, and I think it really made a difference.

I was able to learn why T-Tapp was designed, how it works, benefits of T-Tapp, good pointers and more – BEFORE actually trying the workout. This is great, because if you are educated prior to doing a workout, you will most likely stick with it, if you believe in the mission and purpose of it.

unnamed

The workout is short – only 15 minutes and contains a series of easy and gentle movements. The wonderful thing about this workout is the impact is has on the whole body in such a short amount of time. I really felt it in my upper arms and upper back after the first time trying it.

I was fascinated while I did this workout knowing that it was stimulating my lymphatic system. A stagnant lymphatic system is the cause of so many health issues these days, yet many people don’t even realize it. Understanding that in only 15 minutes a day a person can turn around their health – makes this workout so simple to do! Not only can internal issues be tackled with this workout, but there are many testimonials of people who have also lost inches and weight – and in a short amount of time! You can read Mary’s testimony here!

teresa and me

Being accustomed to Pilates, dancing and interval training – this is a workout program I am holding onto and will definitely recommend to those who truly need this low-impact workout due to the state of their health (internal or external). I feel very blessed to have been introduced to T-Tapp.

What I Liked:

1. Knowing that this workout is good for everyone, especially those who are physically unable to do more intense workouts.

2. The workouts are only 15 minutes.

3. The workout is for more than weight loss or muscle mass, it’s about creating a flowing and healthy environment internally, so your body can function optimally and freely.

What I didn’t Like:

1. I can be pretty picky with workout programs, but I really liked how this encompassed more of a whole body health aspect. I didn’t find anything about her approach, the workout or the “why’s” behind it that I didn’t like. It is GREAT!

You can Buy It!

Go to Mary’s page and see all the T-tapp has to offer.  You can also try out some of the Try Before You Buy Videos. I know many of us will have New Year’s Resolutions that involve getting active, so T-tapp would be a great tool!

You can Win it!

Today is the 7th day of the 12 Days of Christmas Reviews & Giveaways 2013!

On the 7th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An “Oh Where is my Hairbrush” giveaway from Bob & Larry of Veggie Tales. Lol :) Yes, I just said that! I loved that song when it came out back when I was a teenager and I still do! And Veggie Tales has been so kind to offer 2 copies of the new Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas.

A bit about Veggie Tales:

Veggie Tales Mission

Veggie Tales Review & Giveaway

With all the hustle and bustle, with Santa here and presents there it can be hard for kids (and parents too) to remember the true meaning of Christmas. Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas helps us to remember that the birth of Jesus is what Christmas is really all about, plus it shares a great story about helping others in need.

Quick Overview of the movie

Larry The Cucumber is a Christmas elf at the Spring Valley Mall who just wants to spread joy at the holidays. When he meets a little girl with a big heart whose only Christmas wish is to help a friend in need, “Merry Larry” sets off on adventure that will light up the holidays like never before and show the town of Spring Valley what Christmas is all about – “Christmas shines most bright and true when you give the love God gave to you!” Featuring Si Robertson as Silas the Okra!

Isn’t that cool?? Si Robertson from Duck Commander voices Silas the Janitor.

On the 6th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

A joyous giveaway from Kisses from AboveSometimes trying to get pregnant (or refraining from conceiving naturally) can be hard. Kendra, co-owner of Kisses from Above has made it easier for you by offering products for all of your fertility needs.

And I said it’s joyous above because “Children are a gift from God” Psalm 127:3

Kisses from Heaven is also a family business, just like bloom NATURALS. They have 6 children and believe life begins at conception, just as I do.

That makes them pro-life. And because of this, they offer bulk discounts to crisis pregnancy centers. And they will not provide products for abortion clinics. Which I think is very brave.

Kendra also blogs at Living in the Shoe

Features of the pregnancy & ovulation tests

  • FDA certified ovulation tests are individually packaged
  • Expiration date is printed on test pouch
  • All tests are made in the USA
  • For the best results, be sure to follow all of the directions

Kisses from Above Review & Giveaway 1

Now for my review:

I haven’t actually used any fertility or ovulation tests in quite a while since I am 27 weeks pregnant. But I have ordered from Kisses from Above and have always loved what I received. One time I ordered the Vitex after my ectopic pregnancy, which is an herb used to balance female hormones.

I have ordered both pregnancy and ovulation strips in the past as well. I made a homemade chart to keep up the my ovulation to know which days would be best to “try”.

I want to mention that testing or charting are great guidance tools but I was doubtful and struggling with God that we would conceive after months of “trying”. A few months of using the tests everyday, I began to feel angry but deep down I knew God had a plan.

Kisses from Above Review & Giveaway 3

Anyhow, I stopped using the tests, and I even went to an adoption class, then later that same week we found out we were expecting. Although I stopped using the tests they did help me to keep tract of my cycle and glad I got to see it.
Although I am not reviewing the giveaway products today, just my experience, I would like to say that Kendra is a wonderful lady to work with. She is very heartfelt and wants to do all she can to help others. She has great customer care too!
What I Liked:
  1. Kisses from Above works with pregnancy resource centers by offering discounts
  2. They offer products that help with fertility
  3. Their products are very inexpensive and the best rate I have found
  4. It’s a Christian, family run business, who are pro-life
What I didn’t Like:
  1. N/A

Today is the 5th day of the 12 days of Christmas Reviews & Giveaways 2013!

*Note from Rachel: Since I am nearing 27 weeks pregnant, I have asked KT to help me with today’s review but be confident I support and love Peace and Carrots.

On the 5th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

A luxurious duo of bath and body product from Peace and CarrotsThis soap and body lotion is scented with essential oils and is a fantastic gift for yourself or others.

soap main final Peace and Carrots is a soap company created with the elimination of toxins in mind.  The company focuses on creating safe products that include healing and nourishing ingredients.
Soaps are hand crafted with only the best natural and organic materials.  Products are all cruelty, preservative, additive, detergent, synthetic fragrance, paraben, petrolatum, and sulfate free.  They, instead, are full of herbs rich in vitamins and minerals, botanical extracts, essential oils and hydrating butters.  You have GOT to try these products!!

Features of Peace and Carrots Soap and Lotion

  • natural and organic
  • chemical and preservative free
  • filled with essential oils and vitamin rich herbs
  • paraben, petrolatum, and phthalate free
  • hydrating
  • handmade with care

Now for my review:

I was given a bar of soap as well as a bottle of lotion, both scented with lavender essential oil.  The bar of soap looks rustic, but beautiful, and was smooth to the touch.  I read the directions (which are important – following them really made a difference in how my skin felt after!!).

The instructions explained that to gain all of the benefits of the oils in the soaps, it should be quickly rinsed off and then dried (so… don’t wash up first in the shower, wash up last).  So… after following the directions, my skin felt FANTASTIC.  Honestly, I didn’t even NEED any lotion at that point.  I did, after getting ready for the day, use the lotion on my hands.  It was equally luxurious and smelled just as wonderful as the soap.

Peace & Carrots Review and Giveaway 2013

Sometimes when you purchase natural soap, it doesn’t lather as well as conventional soap does.  NOT the case here at all.  It lathered up just fine, and was lovely.  As you use the soap more, you can feel the rice bran a bit more, which works like an exfoliant.  I absolutely loved this soap!!

What I Liked:
  1. The smell
  2. The feel
  3. The hydration
  4. The fact that it is TOTALLY safe for everyone in my family

What I didn’t Like:

  1. Nothing!

Go to Peace and Carrots and see all they have to offer! Jodie is an in-real-life friend of mine (Rachel) and she is an awesome lady and has a heart to make products that will make a difference for those with skin issues.

Today is the 4th day of the 12 days of Christmas Reviews & Giveaways 2013!

On the 4th day of Christmas, day2day joys gave to me…

An natural, non-toxic skincare giveaway from bloom NATURALS. Bloom is a company that believes it’s important to offer quality products full of beneficial ingredients rather than fillers like water, preservatives or emulsifiers.

bloom NATURALS Review & Giveaway

Not only does bloom NATURALS care out the quality of their products, they are a family business, meaning husband, wife and 4 sons. They work out of their home, homeschool and most important are Christians.

Features of bloom Naturals products

  • All products can be used as a moisturizer that you can apply to you skin at any time
  • All products are safe and non-toxic, so safe in fact you don’t need to worry if your 2 year old ate a bit of some of the laundry detergent, although I wouldn’t recommend it
  • All products come in a BPA-free recyclable container
  • All products are gluten free, GMO free, vegan and fair trade

The 3 products I reviewed:

  • NOURISH can be used for various situations including treatment for a dry scalp, an eye makeup remover, in a bath for soft skin, to soften cuticles or even as a massage oil, it doesn’t need to be washed off after use
  • RESTORE is used as a anti-aging night cream that helps restore a healthy glow to your face
  • RENEW is a product for the most delicate areas, the around your mouth and under your eyes. This thick cream helps to sooth puffy eyes, reduce dark circles, and helps elasticity in your skin. You can exfoliate your lips with it and it can even be used to help heal dry and cracked skin

Now for my review:

I love that the mission behind bloom is making nourishing products for skin. Far too many conventional products are toxic and so many people do not know that our skin is one of our largest organs that soak up everything we put on it.

For review purposes, since I was given 3 of products I had my husband help me out. He used NOURISH, a product made for hydrating skin. It actually has 4 uses and he used it for hydrating the scalp.

bloom NATURALS Review & Giveaway 2

At first he was hesitant since he’s never used a product like this before. But he has always had a dry scalp and several year back actually used head and shoulders for dandruff, now thankfully we use a brand that doesn’t have any chemicals and is natural. The result: he loved it and could see himself using it on a more consistent basis.

Here are some of his remarks:  Dr. Jake’s Recording of his thoughts. He also said “it’s amazing” when he was done recording that.

The other 2 products I tried, RENEW and RESTORE are also awesome. I really don’t think you can go wrong when using products that #1 are safe and non-toxic for your skin but #2 are made with very few ingredients that help your skin from the oils and ingredients that bloom has used.

Bloom Natural offers products other than face and body care as well, including kids soaps, moisturizers and diaper creams as well as laundry care needs.

bloom NATURALS Review & Giveaway 1

You do not need to use a whole lot. For the picture I scooped some up so you could see the thickness

What I Liked:
  1. Products are safe and non-toxic (I know I keep mentioning this but hey, it’s important!!) :)
  2. Products smell good
  3. Products really do what they say they do
  4. Bloom is a family oriented, Christian company
  5. Molly, the co-owner really cares about her customers

1. There isn’t anything I didn’t like, great customer service and products
